The first shuttle launch in April 1981, the last shuttle launch in July 2011, watching one small step for man by Neil Armstrong in 1969, and Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley launch from American soil in 2020. Everyone remembers where they watched these historic moments in space. This Wednesday (flight permitting) will add to this list of historic events. For the first time EVER, an all-civilian crew will launch into orbit aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon for Inspiration4.
This is the launch to celebrate this year and on Florida’s Space Coast, the best way to celebrate is with Launches and Lagers, the Live Big Guide to SpaceCraft Beer Pairings. The flight pairs up the Crew Dragon with Intracoastal’s Dragon Point IPA, the ever-popular West-Coast style brew. Grab a growler and head to your backyard or enjoy at Intracoastal’s brew yard.
Head to our new Launches and Lagers site to learn more about this pairing and make sure to hashtag #LaunchesandLagers as you celebrate this Wednesday: LiveBigSpaceCoast.com/Launches-and-Lagers
More about Inspiration4: The mission will be commanded by Jared Isaacman, the 38-year-old founder and Chief Executive Officer of Shift4 Payments and an accomplished pilot and adventurer. Named in recognition of the four-person crew that will raise awareness and funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, this milestone represents a new era for human spaceflight and exploration. Inspiration4 will leave Earth from Kennedy Space Center’s historic Launch Complex 39A, the embarkation point for Apollo and Space Shuttle missions, and travel across a low earth orbit on a multi-day journey that will continually eclipse more than 90% of the earth’s population.
Inspiration4 has announced a 5-hour launch window opening September 15, 2021 at 8:02 PM EDT
